Before you prepare a delicious side dish , it is important to choose the right fruit. If you want to cook a sweet dish, then it is better to buy a nutmeg variety. It has a soft, bright orange, sweet flesh. It is easy to recognize it by its elongated shape. But remember that the nutmeg variety is stored less than its other “relatives”.

You should not take large fruits (more than 4 kg), they may have dry or too watery flesh with bitterness. But a small wax coating is a positive moment. Such a coating perfectly protects against rot.

If you want to make a side dish for meat or fish, then it is worth stopping your choice on hard-core varieties. In shape they resemble an egg, and the peel often has greenish stripes. Cutting it will not be easy, but the flesh will not have such a pronounced sweet aftertaste.

Bright orange puree can be eaten fresh, rolled up in jars for the winter, as well as divided into portions and freeze. For blanks, it is worth taking large fruits of a round flattened shape. They retain their beneficial properties all winter (while nutmeg varieties only until December, and then lose their sweetness and become tasteless).

Ideal spices are cardamom , ginger, nutmeg , chili and saffron. For those who like spicy, chili pepper is suitable.

After you have selected a fruit and washed it, there are two preparation options:

  • Bake in the oven. Cut into 4-6 parts, without cutting the peel and send to the oven. In order not to get a crust on the pulp, some housewives recommend a stove, covering the form with foil.
  • Baking time – 40-50 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees.
    • Stew on the stove. In this case, you will have to spend a little more time. From the vegetable, it will be necessary to cut the peel, cut the pulp into small pieces and send to simmer for 15-20 minutes, pouring water.

    With cream

    Bright, fragrant dish, as in a restaurant. Will be needed:

    • pumpkin – 400 g;
    • cream – 50 ml;
    • butter – 20 g;
    • onion – 1 pc.;
    • natural yogurt;
    • dried garlic;
    • curry;
    • caraway;
    • ginger;
    • coriander;
    • salt.

    Fry the onion in butter for several minutes, add garlic, ginger and spices.

    Puree the baked pumpkin with a blender, adding cream. Combine the two masses, salt, mix until smooth. Serve by watering with yogurt.

    If the consistency is too thick for you, you can add a little chicken stock or cream.

    With broccoli

    Gentle, airy and very useful. Its taste perfectly complement crunches . You will need:

    • pumpkin – 600 g;
    • carrots – 1 pc.;
    • broccoli – 250 g;
    • onion – 1 pc.;
    • garlic – 2 tooth;
    • salt.

    Stew chopped orange pulp and broccoli in a saucepan. Chop the remaining vegetables and passer in sunflower oil. Combine, salt, add your favorite spices, and grind with a blender.


    With apple

    The perfect dessert for the baby. Sweet, fragrant and very healthy. It will be required:

    • pumpkin – 100 g;
    • apples – 100 g;
    • butter – 20 g.
    • sugar.

    Cut the ingredients into small pieces, and, pouring water and adding sugar, boil for 40 minutes. To interrupt the mass to a homogeneous state, and let it boil a little more so that the excess liquid is gone.

    At the end, put butter and sugar to taste.

    With chickpeas

    • pumpkin – 200 g;
    • boiled chickpeas – 100 g;
    • flour – 1 tbsp;
    • garlic – 1 tooth .;

    • salt.
